Types of properties and drawbacks of each of them.
Currently on the market, there are many types of properties (attics, ground floor with garden, flats, houses of all sizes and a long etcetera). The difference is that each of them has many very different advantages and disadvantages that must be carefully analyzed before definitively choosing where it is the best to live.
First of all, you have to understand that depending on where you read this from, the term chalet may be different, since for many it is a single-family home. For this reason, we are going to tell you about the types of homes and their characteristics that stand out the most. In this way, you will be able to understand what types of housing exist and those that can best adapt to your needs.
One of the fundamental aspects before buying a house is to take into account the number of people who will live in the house, as well as pets, the place where they work and personal tastes (if they prefer nature, the city , leisure, tranquility, interior spaces, exteriors…).
There are two types of housing, single-family and multi-family.
Single-family homes refer to the type of home that is built horizontally, while multi-family homes are usually built vertically.
The single-family houses are usually independent chalets or isolated houses, semi-detached houses, bungalows. The multi-family are apartments, studios, penthouses, duplexes, ground floor with garden, attics.
It should be added that multi-family homes have less population density and less environmental impact. They are usually located within the city in isolated areas or on the outskirts.
Next, we will break down the information further.
Single family homes.
One of the main advantages is that they have more spaces, they usually have a garden, terrace, sometimes even a swimming pool. This kind of housing allows a quieter lifestyle by not being so surrounded by neighbors. The biggest drawbacks are usually that the price is high and the maintenance of the home as well. They are usually located on the outskirts, so they do not usually have as many services as those located in the center of the city.
Within single-family homes, there are three types of housing.
- Independent house: this type of house is isolated, since it has land around it. The examples that best explain this type of property are chalets and country houses. There is no noise at all, maintenance is expensive.
- Terraced house: It is this type of house that is built in a row and attached to the rest of the houses by means of a dividing wall. They have things in common such as the gardens, swimming pool or garage. The advantage is being able to live in an almost independent house. They have neighbors, so they have a social life.
- Semi-detached house: it is a house that has another on one of the sides. It is the closest thing to a townhouse, only one of the two sides is free.
Multi-family homes.
Multi-family homes are the most numerous. There are several houses that share a plot of land and share common areas. The clear example is the block of flats.
One of the advantages of this type of property is that they are cheaper, maintenance is also cheaper, better communicated. Their biggest drawback is that they are less quiet and, sometimes, it is difficult to have their own outdoor spaces such as terraces.
We can find different types of multi-family homes.
- Study: it is a house that in the same room has a kitchen, living room and bedroom. They are usually very small. The advantage is being able to live in less economical areas. The main drawback is that, being small homes, even the bed could be a mobile element.
- Apartment: It is a one-room house but it is independent from the rest of the house. It is usually cheaply priced. They are ideal for people who do not want to start a family.
- Floor: It is a property with common areas, with several rooms and may be located on several floors.
- Duplex: it is a house with two floors and an internal staircase. They are expensive because they are bigger and uncomfortable up the stairs.
- Attic: it is the top floor of a building. They are the most expensive and the ones that were previously sold for the views, especially.
- Low: it can have an interior patio, although a little less privacy.
- Attic: It is a flat located on the top floor of the building, which has a sloping roof. They tend to be less luminous although the views are enjoyed more.
- Loft: It is a large space but with few divisions, they are large and open spaces but with less privacy. They are usually very bright.
